These drawings of the life in the nahuatl village of Tepoztlán, were made to illustrate the now classical sociological rural studies by Oscar Lewis: Life in a Mexican Village: Tepoztlán Restudied, (1951); Five Families: Mexican Case Studies in the Culture of Poverty, (1959); The Children of Sánchez, autobiography of a Mexican family, (1961, not illustrated) and Pedro Martinez: A Mexican peasant and his family, (1964).
