Born 1906 in Coyoácan, D. F., into a family of Indian peasant artisans. 1922: began his studies in the open air art school directed by Alfredo Ramos Martinez, in Coyoácan. His first works were published in a monograph about the Open Air schools, printed by the Ministry of Public Education, in 1923. |

| 1928: He was commissioned as an assistant in the Santiago Rabue Center for Painting, directed by G. Fernandez Ledesma. 1930: began to do engravings. He works with only one tool, generally a stonecutter's chisel. Member of L.E.A.R. from its founding (1933-37), and in 1937 became a founding member of T.G.P. He has always lived in San Francisco district of Coyoácan, at the edge of the Pedregal Federal District; is married with two children. |

Between 1938-1948 participated in all collective exhibitions of T.G.P.. In 1948, he produced Vida en mi barriada (Life in my quarter), a portfolio of 15 engravings published by La Estampa Mexicana.
