Born January 12, 1908 in Patzcuaro, Michoacan.
Parents were photographers. He attended primary and secondary schools in Mexico City.
1924-27: studied in Academy of San Carlos and worked as a photographer.
1930: commissioned to found a public school of painting in Taxco. Painted a fresco in rural school in ayotla, with Isabel Villaseñor.
1935: began work with Cultural Missions, continued as chief of mission until 1940. Enlivened many schools with his paintings, notably the school in Manzanillo.
Member of L.E.A.R., liason between its headquarters and provincial artists, rural teachers, etc.
1937: Participated in founding of T.G.P.
Marries American painter Frances Du Casse
1941-44: special commissions from Ministry of Public Education
